MediaTek Announced Helio P90 Procesor; Claims To Be four times more powerful
MediaTek announced its latest processor after its previous Helio P70 and P60. MediaTek Helio P90 processor, successor to Helio P70 launched at an event in Beijing, China. The company claims it to have a faster CPU, better AI capabilities and support for ARCore.
MediaTek Helio P90 Features
The newly launched chipset comes with two A75 cores clocked up to 2.2GHz and six A55 cores at 2.0GHz. These cores are configured in a big.LITTLE configuration. It is an octa-core processor which relies on PowerVR GM 9946 GPU for graphics. The devices holding the new chipset can support up to 8 GB of LPDDRX RAM and UFS 2.1 storage.
If we talk about camera support provided by Helio P90 chipset, it can support 48-megapixel camera or 24-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual camera setup. It supports a maximum display resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels (full HD+) with an aspect ratio of 21:9. On the other hand, the chipset supports dual VoLTE Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.0 in terms of connectivity.
Furthermore, it supports Dual 4G connectivity.
The APU 2.0 in the chipset claims to support faster and more complex AI experiences such as human pose detection. It can also support deep learning facial detection, real-time beautification, deep-learning facial detection, and object and scene detection.
“The Helio P90 is an AI processing powerhouse with ultra-fast performance and a host of AI-powered imaging improvements. This chip will reset consumer expectations of what a smartphone can do, and usher in a new era of super high-resolution smartphone photography to the market,” said TL Lee, General Manager, MediaTek Wireless Communication business unit.
Just like the Helio P70 houses in Realme U1 and P60 in Nokia 5.1, Realme 1, many more; the new MediaTek chipset is expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2019. MediaTek Helio P90 chipset is likely to come in mid-range smartphones with improved performance.
