Netflix Officially Cancels Marvel Shows ‘The Punisher’ And ‘Jessica Jones’

As the only two of the Marvel shows still left on the streamer after the cancellation of Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist within weeks of each other. Now, Netflix cancels the remaining, ‘The Punisher’ and ‘Jessica Jones’ too. No more Marvel Shows On Netflix Now! However, the Third season of Jessica Jones will still launch later in 2019. But that’s as far as it goes.

This marks an end of the relationship with Netflix that started in 2013 with the announcement of four series and ‘The Defenders’ limited series. The reason Netflix and Marvel are parting their ways is Disney+, not officially stated though. If not Disney+, then What could be the reason?

Will ‘The Punisher’ And ‘Jessica Jones’ Return For A Third Season On Netflix?

As mentioned above, the third season of Jessica Jones will be available on the online streaming platform. While ‘the Punisher’, other canceled Marvel show, will not return for the third season. All the Marvel shows, Iron Fist, The Defenders, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and above two are also co-owned by Netflix, they won’t be removed.

“We are grateful to Marvel for five years of our fruitful partnership and thank the passionate fans who have followed these series from the beginning.”

Now if we talk about Netflix, It has ideas for what to do next, without Marvel shows. It has plenty of superhero-themed content on tap which also includes recently launched Umbrella Academy. It is enjoying massive success with originals on a regular basis. Although Netflix started working on Marvel shows at a time when originals were a novelty on the service.

It is gradually cutting ties with Netflix as Disney develops its own streaming service. This also a reason that end of The Punisher and Jessica Jones is “no big surprise”.
