The rise and fall of the Blackberry

After an announcement made by the Blackberry’s CEO, it’s confirmed that the company is discontinuing to manufacture its smartphones. It will now outsource its smartphone manufacturing instead.

Blackberry has come a long way, starting from its cool tiny two-way pager (BB 850) with a keyboard to the phones that run android now (Priv). Although, when Blackberry comes into the conversation, what pops into everyone’s mind is the QWERTY keyboard. Its touchscreen phones were also not bad.

Blackberry is not getting out of the devices business, it’s just simply adjusting the model for how Blackberry devices are brought to market. The company scrolls to play on the same line that Google played on with its Nexus-branded phones.
