October 10, 1980: Pacman Releases in North America

The popular arcade video game ‘Pacman’, following its Japan release in May, debuted in North America on this day in 1980.

One of the reasons that Pacman was so popular because it appealed to both males and females. Girls are really gone want to play this because it is the first iconic you know the female video game character.

Miss Pac-man was essentially almost like a home brew like a hack. Pac-man was originally designed by programmers at general computer corporation as an enhancement kit for Pac-man and they called it crazy Otto and then midway who had the rights to packman in America found out about these guys and said that its looks cool cant you just make that game for us and we’ll pay you for that and they said sure let’s do that and became a Pac-man. It really should have called a Pacman.

Pac-man is special because it really takes the formula of Pac-man and improves upon it in almost every could hope to see different maze combination. They change up the AI of egos so that you call the same patterns that you followed and regular Pac-man faster speed.

Pac-Man was developed by Namco and is considered as one of the classics of the medium, and an icon of 1980s popular culture. The popularity of the game, upon its release, inspired a legacy in other medias too; such as the Pac-Man animated television series and the top-ten hit single “Pac-Man Fever”.
