Tech History – 3rd October

Tech History: Hey there techies! Wishing you a very tech afternoon, we’d like you to pay a closer attention as we have something really exciting for you.

Yesterday, while researching for our story that features a cinematographic representation of Blackberry’s history and the major incidences that altered the company’s and so the tech world’s fortune, we realized something, something that we’ve grown up with, but never acknowledged.

Remember your initial days in this world? Okay, a bit later than initial – when as a 3 or 4 YO kid, you never understood whether or not that funny looking guy is actually there behind that TV; when your utmost fascination was that rotatory dial telephone in your home; when nothing was as thrilling to you as refitting that reel in those music cassettes.

Slowly and steadily, while growing and learning, of course, you understood that the guy behind the screen is not real, however, this time, the screen was on your computer. You kept growing and so did those electronic machines in your surroundings: from the cassette players to DVD players and you never realized when the PC/laptop at your home replaced that DVD player too.

Each and every single day gave something new to the world of technology. Some things were so huge that the world went batshit crazy about them and some so minor that they hardly got recognized. Today the world that we live in: surrounded by hi-tech gadgets, bots, and other machines – defines the 21st century.

Though, let us not forget to acknowledge that it took us centuries of innovation and exploration to reach this point. There’s a history behind today’s technological marvel that tells the epic saga of ups and downs that came while visionary scientists, innovators, and researchers were busy creating the world that’s worth calling ‘Future’.

Dive into Nostalgia with the new category of thinkingtech.in that features the story of every day in the history of technology – Today in Tech History.

Let’s see what happened today, i.e. On October 3 in tech history:

October 3, 1955: Mickey Mouse Club and Captain Kangaroo Debut

1955: This is an especially geeky day, as, on this day in 1995, the legendary children television shows – Mickey Mouse Club and Captain Kangaroo debuted on TV, broadcasting on ABC and CBC respectively.

The Mickey Mouse Club was an American variety television show that aired intermittently from 1955 to 1996. Through the years, the show had been one of the most favorite serial, liked by both children and elders.

Captain Kangaroo is an American children’s television series that aired weekday mornings on the American television network CBS for nearly 30 years, from October 3, 1955, until December 8, 1984. It was the longest-running nationally broadcast children’s television program of its days.

I think we all need to take an evening off and enjoy a beer while binge watching Mickey Mouse Club and Captain Kangaroo with our friends.
