Samsung is gearing up to announce a foldable phone in the upcoming year and now we got to know that Samsung Galaxy X foldable smartphone could launch soon.

This is no assumption, as Samsung Electronics, back in September confirmed the same. Since then, rumours about the phone have been making rounds on the web almost every now and then. Samsung has now — though accidentally — confirmed the existence of the foldable phone and also its name. The foldable smartphone Samsung will indeed be called Galaxy X — as suggested by the high-end previously.

A support page of the Galaxy X was put up on Samsung’s official website. This was first reported by Mobiel Kopen. The support page — alongside the name of the upcoming foldable phone — doesn’t reveal much details about the smartphone though. The device will come with a model number SM-G888N0 — at least that’s what the support page reveals.

Samsung already announced to launch its first foldable smartphone in 2018 and now we know that Samsung Galaxy X foldable smartphone could launch soon. Reports now are, that the South Korean smartphone manufacturer may launch the foldable phone alongside the 2018’s flagship phones aka Galaxy S9 and the S9+. Rumours claim Samsung may announce the S9 lineup at MWC 2018. This possibly means that the Galaxy X may also come at the same time — which is sometime around the end of Feb.

A report coming from Forbes suggests that Samsung may unveil the Galaxy X foldable phone for South Korea first, and later bring it to other markets. However, Samsung hasn’t revealed any details on the same yet.

By now, Galaxy X has cleared several certifications, including the Bluetooth SIG, the South Korea’s National Radio Research Agency, and the Wi-Fi Alliance. Information about Galaxy X is scarce. But what we know is that — the foldable device is going to be a high-end phone and may come with almost all the top-notch features that are seen on the latest flagship phones by Samsung.

Going by the rumours, Galaxy X will come with two displays of which one will be flexible. In simple terms, the flip phone can be bend only on one side and will be using a multi-joint hinge.

As far as the specifications are concerned, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy X flip phone will come with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 — the same processor which also powers this year’s flagship phones by the company aka Galaxy S8 and S8+. Some reports claim that Samsung may use Snapdragon 845 chip for the Galaxy X — but most probably that may not happen as reports are that Samsung may use the complete first slot of the Snapdragon 845 for Galaxy S9, S9+.
