HP Sprocket Pocket Sized Printer: Instant gratification is the key takeaway for the millennials and maintaining this in your mind, global PC and printing important HP on Wednesday established Sprocket – a touch-screen picture printer – in India for Rs. 8,999.

The distinctive hand-held printer would allow you to print instant pictures (2×3-inch size) and share among friends. Users will have to download the Sprocket app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store on their smartphone, set it together with the printer, set specially-designed HP ZINK newspapers in the apparatus, change on Bluetooth, and can then print pictures.

“The device is particularly created for its millennial segment that is between age 10-24. However, we are not restricting our goal to that age group. Individuals who prefer to conserve their memories want to own the ‘Sprocket’ that is a fairly reasonably priced apparatus,” Raj Kumar Rishi, Senior Director, Printing Systems, HP Inc India, told IANS.

 

“‘HP Sprocket permits users to print their treasured memories immediately on-the-go with only a couple of taps”, Rishi added. The company app empowers users to print photographs directly from their social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram.

“While smartphones have made it very easy to store our memories digitally, the power of printing photos can’t be compromised. The moment a digital photo gets published, it becomes a real treasure you can cherish for life” Rishi noted. HP is taking the e-commerce route to advertise the Sprocket printer in India in white, red and black color variants.

“We are moving online via Amazon to start with. Since the business shapes up, we’d pick the next step. We are the top brand in the customer industry with a market share. Our job is to boost our market and make printing more relevant,” the executive told IANS.

According to into the International Data Corporation (IDC), HP regained the top position in Inkjet printer market in the second quarter of 2017 using a unit share of 45.9 percent after posting a 7.2 percentage (YoY) growth.

The company also has been the industry leader in the laser HCP marketplace with 57.4 percent market share. Rishi credited the whole growth story to “solid innovations” occurring across the market segments like the launching of A3 printers around SMB and enterprise segment.

“There are three huge use cases for consumer printing along with the biggest use case is college assignments. With ‘Sprocket’, ‘ we are creating the new use case in the mobile printing area. We think that this would assist the segment to develop further,” Rishi noted.

We found the world’s smallest All-in-One printer this past year,” he added. The company has chosen to use ZINK technology for Sprocket printer. 539 to get a pack of 20 sheets and Rs. 1,249 to get a pack of 50 sheets.

The consumer would find a pack of 10 ZINK newspapers the business said. ZINK paper’s peel-and-stick backing land can turn the pictures into fun stickers also.
