OnePlus 6T Rumors: ‘T’ is the new ‘S’
OnePlus has been known over worldwide for offering premium flagships at a lower price than most. The OnePlus 6 was widely acclaimed for being a super capable phone at a low price than its competition and offering blazing fast performance, decent cameras and a superior software. Because of OnePlus’ strategy, it has been ranked as the leader in the premium smartphone category in India for two quarters in a row. OnePlus is about to launch its mid-cycle refresh, the OnePlus 6T today in New York. The phone has been leaked in its entirety and we know almost everything about the OnePlus Flagship. Here’s what OnePlus 6T rumors say-:
OnePlus 6T Rumor- Display
The screen of the OnePlus 6T is supposed to be 6.4″ – a 0.12″ increase over the OnePlus 6. The phone is also expected to have a waterdrop notch is time around, making it significantly narrower and less distracting than its predecessor.
The Display will again be a FullHD+ AMOLED. I for one think that OnePlus should move towards a sharper display, FullHD+ is okay, but not enough to cut it. Anyway, the display on the OnePlus 6 was great panel, and the 6T is expected to be of similar quality.
OnePlus 6T Rumors- Specifications
As is with all OnePlus ‘T’ upgrades, the specifications on the OnePlus 6T are supposed to be the same. The same Snapdragon 845 chipset, same 6/8GB of RAM with 64/128/256GB of storage and the cameras are also expected to be similar. With a 16+20MP shooter on the back and a single 16MP one on the front.
The second lens, for two iterations has been known to focus on low light imaging, I also think that OnePlus has a chance to do better this time, by offering a telephoto, or even better, a wide-angle secondary camera.
OnePlus 6T Rumors- Battery
The battery on the OnePlus 6 was a 3300mAh cell, which wasn’t enough but lasted for one day with medium usage. The OnePlus 6T is all but confirmed to have a 3700mAh battery this time around. The higher battery capacity is a welcome change but it is achieved by removing the headphone jack, an omission I am not very happy about.
OnePlus was pretty vocal about not removing the headphone jack and now when they’ve removed it themselves, it is just disappointing. We have to see if the Bullets Type-C headsets are any good.
OnePlus 6T Rumors- Other Features
The OnePlus 6T is expected to be the biggest mid-cycle refresh ever for OnePlus, as it is going to announce the debut of an in-screen fingerprint sensor, a feature for the fancy and not seen in many mainstream devices yet. The sensor will be embedded in the screen and is expected to be an optical one. Optical fingerprint sensors aren’t known to be secure but it may be a cool way to unlock your phone so there’s that. The super-fast face unlocking will also be present for those who want it.
OnePlus 6T Rumors- What we think?
The OnePlus 6T should’ve made for a pretty exciting device if it were the only one OnePlus launched this year. But the OnePlus 6 was already a pretty solid phone and 6T is just an incremental update, save for the in-display fingerprint sensor and the bigger battery. OnePlus has also removed the headphone jack, which I am not a fan of.
The 6T will also be arriving with an increased price tag, starting at Rs 37,999 for the 6GB/64GB variant. Overall, the OnePlus 6T Rumors show that the phone isn’t much of an upgrade, if only OnePlus offered something extraordinary.
