Horizon Lunar Colony: Blizzard also hinted at a new hero called Hammond
Amidst the Overwatch Anniversary Event, Blizzard Shown a new map for the hero shooter called Horizon Lunar Colony. It takes place on the Moon, as the name suggests. The company may have hinted at a new hero named Hammond.
“Built as a primary step towards humanity’s revived exploration of space, the Horizon Lunar Colony’s aim was to analyze the effects of prolonged extraterrestrial habitation–on individual and ape alike. The scientists’ research proved incredibly promising…until, suddenly, all contact and communications with the base were dropped,” reads Blizzard’s description of the map.
Certain parts of this map will have gravity since it’s about the Moon. Overwatch’s custom match browser will let low gravity is applied by users if they so choose. The map is playable for people in Overwatch’s Public Test Realm (PTR) and will be made accessible to the general public when Blizzard deems it fit.
Concerning lore, it ties in with the roots of Winston – a genetically modified gorilla with genius level intellect. Winston was among the characters. The Horizon Lunar Colony was where he was raised along with apes.
The map seems to hint of a hero called Hammond. The Overwatch Horizon Lunar Colony trailer explains its backstory narrated by Winston, and a frame indicates all test subjects accounted for except and another called Hammond. This ties in with a post on Blizzard’s blog that mentions Hammond being missing for a week. You can check out the preview to the map in the movie below.
Can we see a reveal for Hammond? Considering that Blizzard has not ceased making statements we won’t be surprised if Hammond is another reveal after the Overwatch Anniversary Event.
